Everywhere I go, the talk is about generational Differences, specifically, the Boomers and GenXers talking about "those lazy, irresponsible Millennials." In turn, the Millennials are complaining about the Boomers being out of touch with technology and stuck in the past. Obviously, developing a negative stereotype of a generation isn't going to produce positive results. And, in the case of the Millennials, complaining about them isn't going to change them into Boomers and GenXers. The Millennials will make up 50% of the workforce in 2020, so companies whose managers are Boomers and GenXers have no choice but to find ways to make it work. Those companies who do this successfully are going to have a tremendous competitive advantage.

I have developed a workshop that explains the origin of generational differences, the characteristics of each generation currently in the workforce, and how to manage/lead each generation with emphasis on leading Millennials. The workshop was conducted for the Spartanburg City and County governments on August 30th, and a report of the session was carried in the Spartanburg Herald Journal on September 25th.
